Migrate WordPress to Wix
Your writing comes across, your design does not, and everything in between depends on this particular pair — on what WordPress will let us read and what Wix will let us write. Every verdict below is worked out from capabilities we proved on live installations of both, not written by us about them.
Of the seven things we check, 4 move across in full. 2 move partly. 1 does not move at all.
What you lose moving off WordPress, whatever you use
This is first because every migration tool on the market puts it last, and because it is the part people are angry about afterwards. None of it depends on Wix — it is true of leaving WordPress for anywhere.
- Your design. A Drupal theme cannot become a WordPress theme, and a Webflow layout cannot become anything else. You will need a theme or a design on the new platform, and the new site will not look like the old one.
- Page layouts built in a page builder — Elementor, Divi, the Webflow Designer, Concrete blocks. These are stored as each platform's own private arrangement and no API exposes them. The text inside them comes across; the arrangement does not.
- Anything that is not content: forms, shops, memberships, comments, bookings, custom features. None of it is reachable through any of these APIs, by us or by anybody else.
- Revision history, draft versions and who wrote what. Your content arrives as current content, authored by the account you connect with.
WordPress to Wix, one thing at a time
Seven things can move. Something only moves if WordPress will let us read it and Wix will let us write it, so the answer is specific to this pair rather than to either platform. The losses come first here too.
Does not move at all (1)
- Does not move Manage navigation — your menus, where both platforms have menus we can reach
Moves partly (2)
- Moves partly Manage media — your images, re-uploaded to the new site rather than linked back to the old one
- Moves partly Manage redirects — redirects from the old addresses to the new ones, where the new platform accepts them
Moves whole (4)
- Moves Read content — your posts and pages, with their titles, text and summaries
- Moves Create content — creating each one again on the new platform, as a draft you approve
- Moves Manage taxonomies — your categories and tags, and which content is filed under what
- Moves Edit SEO metadata — the SEO titles and descriptions you have written
Every line above comes from a capability exercised against a live WordPress installation and a live Wix one, with the date recorded. Where we have not proved something we say it does not move, rather than assuming it does.
And the other way, Wix to WordPress?
The same, in this pair's case. Both WordPress and Wix can be read and written, so nothing is gained or lost by the direction — which is a fact about what we have proved rather than a rule, and this page will say otherwise the day it stops being true.
How a move from WordPress to Wix actually goes
You connect both sites the way you would connect an AI Agent — a key you make yourself on each one, and can take back at any moment. We read everything out of WordPress, show you what we found and what will not survive, and write it into Wix only once you have seen the list. Nothing is published to visitors until you say so.
