What the platform does not allow
Craft only accepts an unpublished state on a mutation if the schema allows it. The schema is inspected before anything is created, and creation is refused outright rather than risk publishing to a live site by accident.
Why it works this way
Installing software on somebody’s website is a liability: it has to be updated, it can break on an upgrade, and it keeps running after they stop paying. Where Craft CMS gives us a published interface, using it is better for you than giving you one more thing to maintain.
